UNIPORT 2016/17 Admission Into Part-Time Certificate And Diploma Programmes

This is to inform the general public that sale of Application Forms into the various Part-Time Certificate and Diploma Programmes of the College of Continuing Education, University of Port Harcourt for the 2016/2017 Session has commenced. The following Programmes will be offered during the Session: A. CERTIFICATE AND DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES IN: (1) Information and Communication Technology (2) Electronic and Computer Technology (3) Computer Aided Design in Oil and Gas Entry Requirements: • Certificate Programme Candidates must have three (3) Ordinary Level Credit passes in the WASC/SSCE/NECO/GEC at not more than two (2) sittings. Duration of the Programme: – Nine (9) months • Diploma Programme Candidates must have four (4) Ordinary Level Credit passes in the WASC/SSCE/NECO/GEC at not more than two (2) sitting, including English Language and Mathematics. Duration of the Programme: – 18 months B. DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES IN: (1) International Health and Safety Management (2) Quality Management (3) Logistics/Material Management (4)` Aviation Safety and Logistics Management (5) Project Management (6) Policing and Crime Management (7) Offshore Engineering Technology (8) Automation Engineering Entry Requirements: • S/Nos. (1) – (6): Candidates must have three (3) Ordinary Level Credit passes in the WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings, including English Language. Working experience in the related area will be an added advantage. • S/Nos. (7) and (8): Candidates must have three (3) Ordinary Level Credit passes in the WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings, including English Language and Mathematics. Working experience in the related area will be an added advantage. Duration of the Programmes: – Two (2) years. (Saturdays only) C. CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME 1 Certificate in Photography 2. DIPLOMA IN PHOTOGRAPHY Entry Requirements: Candidates must have four (4) Ordinary Level Credit passes in the WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings, including English Language. PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (OPTIONS) These are targeted agricultural trainings suitable for candidates with relevant or related practical experience and wishing to become more efficient on their current or future jobs: 1. (ii) Professional Diploma Programmes • Possess relevant or related practical experience • Possession of Higher National Diploma (HND) or First Degree in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry are added advantage. (iii) Certificate Courses • Possess relevant or related practical experience. • Possess the requisite O’level credits passes in three subjects, which must include: (a) English Language (compulsory) (b) Chemistry (compulsory) (c) Biology or Agricultural Science (and not both). (d) Mathematics or Physics (and not both) and (e) Any other subject (Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, or Commerce). Duration of Programmes (i) Short Courses: – Shall last between 10 to 21 days. (ii) Professional Diploma Programmes: – Shall last 12 Calendar months (iii) Certificate Courses: – Shall last 12 Calendar months. NOTE: ONLY candidates with three (3) Ordinary Level credits passes in the WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEB/ NECO at not more than two (2) sittings are acceptable for registration. METHOD OF APPLICATION 1.
